This weekend I went to this really cool place with my friend Kirsten called "Sonotheque". It not a club or a bar, it is designed acoustically to produce the best sound I have ever heard. There is this huge glass spinning room where different d.j's from all over are featured every day of the week. The music was great and the crowd was even better. I have never been to a place like it and I recommed it to others! Kirsten spent the night on Sunday we went to our favorite brunch spot with our neighbor Alyssa......YOLK!!!!! They have the best brunch in Chicago. It does not matter when you go, they are always packed. It is the cutest place designed around welll......an egg yolk. The bright blue, yolk, and white interior excite you and make you happy. The pendant light above the table are clear glass egg shaped pendants with a yolk colored light in the center. If ever in South Loop its worth the wait!
This weekend my husbands family is coming to visit, it should be fun and cramped if i must add! I will keep you all posted

Achy Ears and a Brick Wall......
Wow.....my run today was extremely challenging. I felt great the first half of my run down the lakefront. It was about 35 and sunny....the run back towards home, well lets just say it really got me. I didn't stop running but i felt like when I turned around I literally ran into a brick wall. The wind was really strong, maybe thats why the first part of my run was a breeze :) The wind really took my breath away which made my run hard. I knew right then that I have a long road ahead of me. I am just glad that I finsihed my run without stopping, it made me feel somewhat accomplished. Running here in Chicago is really beautiful but I must say that the wind is another element. Only those who have experienced this understand. I am so looking forward to the spring and summer :)
I need something to warm me up! Have a great Saturday everyone!

500 Mile Diabetic Challenge for my Sister
Just signed up to run 500 miles in 2008 to support my sister and all those living with Diabetes. My sister was diagnosed with Type I diabetes this past summer. Since the diagonsis she has made a commitment to make the disease of diabetes challenge her through running. She has already accomplished both a half and full marathon along with numerous races throughout. The least I can do is challenge myself for her. I am excited to do this also in preparation for the Chicago Marathon in October. I am excited to be in this challenge with all of you!
Best of Luck!

Jazz in June (Latin Jazz Concert)
Last evening Marc and I were invited to go to Ravinia Park for a Latin Jazz Concert with our neighbor Kirsten. It was such a cool experience....we took the Metra train which is a double decker train than leaves from the suburbs.....about an hour to Ravinia Park. The concert was absolutely amazing.....featuring Arturo Sandoval and Pink Martini.
At the concerts you can bring pretty much anything you want. We brought our fold up chairs, wine, beer and food.......we were not to sure what was allowed and what wasn't. Other brought actual tables and candles which made for a more romantic setting. It was honestly one of the best experiences I have had so far.
Ravinia has many other concerts this summer...I think we are interested in Steve Miller Band and Indigo Girls..we will have to see.
Anyway I wanted to thank Kirsten for inviting us...Marc and I had an awesome evening :)

Oak Street Beach

Yesterday Marc and I went to the Oak Street Beach. The beach is about an hour walk from our apartment so we decided to ride our bikes there. The ride is a bike trail along the lakeshore....it takes about 20 -25 minutes (3 miles). It is a beautiful bike ride......which leads you to the beach, not so bad! Anyway, it was a nice relaxing afternoon. Today (friday) we are going to Wicker Park......this area of Chicago is known for unique boutiques and restaurants. Marc wants to go to "T-shirt Deli" they specialize in modern graphic t's and are wrapped in butcher paper and served with a bag on potato chips when purchased...pretty cool! I am really excited to go :)

Wrigleyville & Gold Coast
Yesterday Marc and I took the El to Wrigleyville.......Home of the Cubs. I must say at first I was shocked at the facade of the stadium; it wasn't what I expected at all. the stadium is very old but well taken care of. I was expecting a large "Home of the Chicago Cubs" sign...but I did not see one. I guess we are just spoiled with the fancy Indians stadium in Cleveland. It was neat to see a historic ball park. I am glad we went to Wrigleyville, when the parents come up we will have to take them there (great nightlife and beer deals).
Then....we took the El to Clark and Division.....near the Gold Coast. Here there is shopping and the beautiful Oak Street Beach. We walked through the busy beautiful streets filled with row house town homes and high-end boutiques. We arrived at Oak Street and took a walk on the beautiful beach. Lake Michigan has very clear, aqua, water....it is amazing compared to Lake Erie. The beach has soft, white sand and a little restaurant called " Oak Street Beachstro". It was a nice afternoon!!!
Today we are going to ride our bikes to the beach. We need to take advantage of the 90 degree, sunny weather. I definitely need to get some sun on these ghostly, white legs. It is going to be a great day!!!!!!

Fun-Filled Weekend
Walk to Buckingham Fountain
Crown Fountain
Marc's Mom and I
This weekend was our first official weekend here in Chicago. We definitely took advantage of all the activities and beautiful weather. Friday evening we went to the Chicago Blues Festival where we had Chicago style dogs (I didn't like them to much) and amazing music from some of the top blues bands here in Chicago. There were so many people there taking in all of the sights, sounds and smells. It was a great evening to say the least.
Saturday Marc's parents came to visit. We went to lunch at a Korean Kalbi Buffet (it is not exactly a buffet) basically it was all you can eat kalbi, bulgogi, and other Korean dishes. The owner prepared the meat for us on our table wood/charcoal grill. The food was absolutely amazing...you know it is good when Marc's mom say's "It's really good". The only complaint I had was that the interior was so out dated and dungy. It is really weird....all the Korean restaurants I have ever been to seem to be little hole in the walls, but always have the best food. Anyway if I am ever hungry for Korean Kalbi I am definitely going to Song Do Kalbi buffet (N. Lincoln Ave). AMAZING!!!!
Saturday afternoon we took Marc's parents all around to see the sights. This walk included the sights of Grant and Millennium Park, Buckingham Fountain, Museum Park, Lake shore, and a drive through Old Town and Lakeview. I feel like I am really becoming educated with all of the sights and sculptures surrounding us.
This week we are going to have beautiful weather, sunny and warm all week. I think we are going to go to Oak St. Beach and a hair cut is for sure in my agenda, I just hope it can be in the salon agenda as well. Please find some pics below of the weekend....
